Song Meaning of Yellow by Coldplay
The song, which helped the band gain popularity through radio rotation and inclusion in television and films, was Coldplay's breakout smash on a global scale.
The band left the studio one evening after wrapping up "Shiver" and took a break. The co-producer of the song, Ken Nelson, said that the stars were visible and "just amazing" outside with not many lights on. The musicians did as he instructed and looked up at the stars. Chris Martin, the lead singer, was moved by what he saw, and the chord pattern that makes up the song's primary theme suddenly came to him.
Chris Martin struggled to find the appropriate words when writing the song's lyrics. He had a term in mind that he felt fit the subject of the song but was missing from the lyrics. He noticed the Yellow pages when he turned to face the studio. From then on, the lyrics developed as the band worked together. "Look at the stars" is how bassist Guy Berryman came up with the opening lyric. The song was written quickly, and the band recorded it that night.
Lyrics of Yellow by Coldplay
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow
I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called "Yellow"
So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
Do you know
You know I love you so
You know I love you so
I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
'Cause you were all yellow
I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
Do you know
For you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry
It's true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do
