Lyrics Meaning of Sex On Fire by Kings On Leon
The lead vocalist Caleb wrote the song about model Lily Aldridge, who was then his girlfriend and is now his wife. Nathan Followill clarified that the band never intended the song to be called "Sex on Fire" and that it was not supposed to be about sexuality in an interview on Triple J, an Australian radio station.
The lyrics were completely different. Whether a song begins with words or a melody is determined by which comes first. If the melody comes first, you simply play the melody repeatedly until you have it right, then add any lyrics that make sense lyrically. The song was supposed to be "Set Us on Fire," but as we were playing, one of the sound mixers in the studio strolled in and said, "'Sex on Fire, huh?" And we continued to joke about it as a sort of running gag.
In Australia, Finland, Ireland, and the UK, Kings of Leon achieved their first number-one hit thanks to the song. The band received their first Grammy nominations for the song.
Sex On Fire lyrics by Kings On Leon
Lay where you're laying
Don't make a sound
I know they're watching
They're watching
All the commotion
The kiddie-like play
It has people talking
Talking
You
Your sex is on fire
The dark of the alley
The breaking of day
Head while I'm driving
I'm driving
Soft lips are open
Them knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying
You're dying
You
Your sex is on fire
Consumed
With what's just transpired
Hot as a fever
Rattle of bones
I could just taste it
Taste it
If this not forever
If this just tonight
Oh we're still the greatest
The greatest
The greatest
You
Your sex is on fire
You
Your sex is on fire
Consumed
With what's just transpired
And you
Your sex is on fire
Consumed
With what's just transpired
