Keys told MTV News that the song, "is really talking about the way that in relationships, the way that so many things are around you all the time to try to distract you. And even though people may talk and say whatever they may want to say, but then no one can get in the way of this." Keys added that the song "just wrote itself".
"No One" was a commercial triumph, topping the US Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in a row and reaching in the top ten in 18 other nations. With 3.08 billion listeners, it was the most-heard song on US radio and the third-most popular song of 2008 in the US. It was also the sixth-most popular song in the US during the 2000s.
